Benefits of Opus Plasma for Skin Resurfacing

The Opus Plasma was the winner of a Good Housekeeping Best Beauty Award in 2021. It offers patients anti-aging benefits with less downtime than traditional laser skin resurfacing treatments.

As the next generation in fractional skin rejuvenation, plasma skin resurfacing offers a variety of benefits:

  • Dramatic Results Plasma skin rejuvenation delivers comparable results to CO2 skin resurfacing without the pain, side effects, or extensive recovery time.
  • Rapid Treatment Time Opus Plasma skin resurfacing sessions ($500 per) require approximately only 15 minutes!
  • Safe & Effective for Every Skin Type Fractional plasma resurfacing treatments are FDA-approved and highly effective for every skin type and color.
  • Custom Treatment Depths High-frequency, unipolar radio-frequency technology allows for high-precision control of treatment depth. Depending on preference, results can range from mild to aggressive.
  • Multiple Treatment Areas Fractional plasma resurfacing can be used virtually anywhere on the body to remove stretch marks and improve the appearance of scars and other skin irregularities.
What Is Fractional Plasma Skin Resurfacing?

At Medical Tattoo & Cosmetic Centers of America, we utilize Opus Plasma for skin resurfacing treatments. This innovative device combines radiofrequency with microplasma energy to stimulate facial rejuvenation by creating fractional injuries in the skin’s microthermal zones.

In response to treatment, the skin produces an influx of collagen and elastin, reinforcing its structure, elasticity, and fullness. As the most abundant proteins in youthful, healthy skin, collagen and elastin are essential for maintaining a vibrant, smooth, supple complexion.

What to Expect With Plasma Skin Resurfacing Treatments

During a plasma skin resurfacing treatment, your practitioner directs the Opus Plasma device near the surface of your skin.

The metal pins on the device’s treatment tips operate at a high-frequency 40MHz, producing radiofrequency energy that reacts to atmospheric pressure in the surrounding air. This reaction produces ionized gas, known as plasma, which deeply penetrates the skin, creating fractional injuries that stimulate collagen and elastin production.

The treatment is brief, requiring approximately 15 minutes, depending on your unique needs and the size of the resurfacing area. Multiple sessions may be necessary to achieve your desired results.

Aftercare for Plasma Skin Resurfacing

After treatment, most patients can return to their normal schedules immediately. You should expect one to two days of mild redness and inflammation, but downtime is considerably less than other skin resurfacing treatments.

You’ll likely see noticeable results after a single treatment, but most patients require three to four sessions to see the most dramatic results. Your practitioner will develop a customized treatment plan based on your unique needs and skin care goals.

Benefits of PicoLazer for Facial Rejuvenation

Traditionally used for tattoo removal, the PicoLazer device can be safely used for skin resurfacing on the face, helping to promote collagen and refine skin texture.

PicoLazer may be the perfect solution for benign skin conditions and facial discoloration, including acne scars, freckles, sun spots, and pigmented lesions.

  • Non-Invasive Treatment
  • Most patients find the procedure tolerable, comparing the sensation to tiny pinpricks. It does not require anesthesia.

  • Advanced Tech
  • This technology is regarded as one of the most advanced and sophisticated laser treatments currently available.

  • Short Procedure
  • Pico treatments ($200 per session) are quick and easy, lasting 15 to 30 minutes. Multiple sessions may be necessary to remove deeper or larger pigmented areas.

  • Minimal Risks
  • Pico lasers selectively destroy the target pigment without damaging healthy, normal tissue. This allows rapid clearing of abnormal pigmentation with minimal damage to surrounding tissue.

  • Treats Many Skin Issues
  • From age spots and freckles to brown patches, sun damage, and acne scarring, pico lasers address the most common skin imperfections.

What Is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

It’s an aesthetic treatment where layers of your skin are removed with careful laser precision.

Unlike lasers that rely on intense heat energy, pico laser skin resurfacing sends ultra-short energy pulses to targeted problem areas—no heat is involved.

The laser shatters the problem skin pigment or particles, which the body then naturally eliminates. (Melanin particles are small enough for the body to naturally absorb over time.)

New skin cells form, leaving you with tighter, smoother skin that heals within less than a month of the procedure.

What to Expect: Pico Laser Procedure & Aftercare

After thoroughly cleansing your skin, an expert will apply the laser to your treatment area(s). We can apply a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort.

You’ll wear protective eyewear during the procedure as the trained technician uses the handheld device to deliver precise energy pulses. Measured in picoseconds, the ultra-short pulses of energy emitted from the laser can be adjusted by the technician as needed to target your specific skin concern.

You may feel slight sensations of heat or tingling. After the treatment, we’ll apply a soothing cream and aftercare instructions. Mild redness, swelling, or mild discomfort is normal and should subside within a couple of days. We will likely recommend avoiding direct sunlight and keeping the treated area well moisturized.

You can expect to return to normal activities immediately!

Laser vs. Opus Plasma for Skin Resurfacing

As you can see, several treatment options are available when it comes to skin resurfacing. Medical Tattoo & Cosmetic Centers of America offers only proven, safe, and effective solutions.

While many experts agree that Opus Plasma is more efficient for skin resurfacing vs. laser technology, not everyone is a good candidate for fractional plasma skin resurfacing. You may need to avoid it due to pregnancy, HIV, lupus, anemia, or epilepsy.

PicoLazer treatments are typically suitable for a broad range of skin types, including darker skin tones. Since our experts specialize in different types of skin resurfacing and have extensive experience with all skin types and races, we can find the right method for your particular skin type, preferences, and budget.
